The Réaumur scale (also known as "octogesimal division") is a temperature scale named after the French scientist René Antoine Ferchault de Réaumur (1683-1757), who first proposed something similar in 1730. The freezing point of water is set at 0°Ré and the boiling point at 80°Ré.Rømer
