Radiotherapy Equivalent Dose Calculator
When radiation therapy is used to treat cancer it is given in moderate size daily fractions for a period of weeks. A typical schedule is 1.80 Gy five times per week for seven weeks, that is 63.00 Gy. Other schedules can also be used, such as 3.00 Gy per fraction. Under one of these altered schedules, what is the total dose needed to achieve an equivalent biologic effect (for the tumor versus for the normal tissue)? This applet performs the necessary calculations under the linear quadratic model described by Professor Fowler. -sr-
